Scrapped Game Of Thrones Prequel: Leaked Images

HBO cancelled Bloodmoon, a Game of Thrones prequel series, after a bad pilot episode. Find out what the scrapped series was about and see the leaked images.

Plans for the first Game of Thrones prequel series, Bloodmoon, may have been scrapped more than five years ago, but fans are finally getting a glimpse into a previously-unseen Westeros story in these leaked images.

Game of Thrones: The Prequel That Never Was

Game of Thrones left our screens more than four years ago, after 73 amazing episodes over eight seasons. No matter what you think of the last Thrones season (I didn’t mind it, personally), the HBO original had a lasting impact on the world of television, marking a golden age that some say ended with the show.

But Thrones fans are not left in the dark, as they can enjoy a new story from the Westeros saga, full of the same twisted and violent themes that George R. R. Martin masterfully wove into his original books.

House of the Dragon vs Bloodmoon

As HBO’s House of the Dragon comes back with its second exciting season, new images have emerged from a forgotten prequel that was cancelled more than five years ago.

HBO wanted to make the most of the original Thrones series’ popularity, launching several projects that delve into the rich past of the fantasy world that George R. R. Martin created in his novels.

One of them, Bloodmoon, was supposed to be the studio’s first big hit after the original series ended, telling the thrilling story of The Long Night – a name that Martin loves to use – the marriage between a Stark and a Casterly, happening at Casterly Rock almost 5000 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

It was one of four possible spin-offs that HBO was working on, but it was rejected because of its bad pilot episode. It seemed to be forgotten until Flora Moody, a hair and makeup artist who has worked on Road House and the Star Wars movies, posted images from the first episode’s set on her Instagram.

The Story Behind the Scrapped Game Of Thrones Prequel

The series was set to explore the world’s fall from the golden Age of Heroes to its gloomiest time, according to an official statement.

“The only thing certain is this: from the terrifying secrets of Westeros’s past to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the legendary Starks…it’s a different story than what we thought we knew.”

The lead role in the scrapped series was given to Naomi Watts.
